Top Ten Tuesday: Series I Need to Start

Tuesday 21 October 2014

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by bloggers at The Broke and the BookishThis week I'm sharing the top ten series I want to start.

1. The Rephaim by Paula Weston

Aside from the fact that I already own the first book, I haven't read paranormal YA in a while so I'm looking forward to this. Plus, it's by an Australian author which also makes me want to read it.

2. The Program by Suzanne Young

I've seen good things about this dystopian YA series from other bloggers around, so I'm curious to try it out.

3. Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

These books seem downright creepy and thrilling, and after all the hype and people saying how amazing they are, I'm going to give them a go.

4. Hopeless by Colleen Hoover

I'm already a Collen Hoover fan, and I can't wait to start this series which is sure to be an emotional read.

5. Pivot Point by Kasie West

The idea of alternate realities make this series one I really want to read. Thankfully I have the first book already so I can make a start!

6. Every by Ellie Marney

Australian author. Awesome premise. Must-read ASAP.

7. Splintered by A.G. Howard

Stephanie from Chasm of Books really likes this series, and I like the sound of its Alice in Wonderland similarities.

8. Legend by Marie Lu

This is yet another YA dystopian series that has been on my TBR for way too long. It's time to read it.

9. The Violet Eden Chapters by Jessica Shirvington

I've really enjoyed some of Jessica Shirvington's other novels, and the fact that my English teacher even recommended this series makes me really want to start it.

10. Starbound by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

One thing's for sure - I'll definitely read These Broken Stars before This Shattered World Comes out!

So what do you think of the series I've picked - do you have any recommendations in particular?

    1. Good to know my picks sound good - I'm definitely excited to read them all. It's definitely hard when those library due dates sneak up on you and you have to return a really good book (we've all been there!)

  3. MARA DYER. I am getting that for Christmas, THE EXCITE. Pivot Point was SO good, need the sequel, also getting that at Christmas, how sweet. Splintered I've reserved from the library, good old me, and Every Breath looks and sounds AMAZING. Legend was, in the middle for me, but I wish you so much luck! Such good choices Genie, good on you girl, good luck! :D

    1. That's good to hear Kara - I'm contemplating going get 'Haze' and 'Shimmer' as well now, considering that after I finish 'Shadows' and (assuming it's good) I'll probably just want to go and binge-read the rest of the series. I can't wait to read These Broken Stars and Every Breath especially too!

  7. I neeeed to read The Rephaim. I actually own book #3. o.O My bad! I can't believe I just haven't even though about reading it, and people say it's like the best angel series there is. *expectations rocket* So I hopefully will get onto it...soon? Next year? And Every Breath! Everyone RAVES about it! And anything Sherlocky is just insta-awesome, right?? Even if it's Mycroft and not Sherlock. I can deal.

    1. 'best angel series there is' is definitely a high standard to live up to - but from the looks of things it definitely has the potential to meet expectations (hopefully!). That Sherlock vibe is definitely what makes me want to read it even more :)

  9. You list so many books that I really love and ones on my TBR as well! I mean I just LOVE The These Broken Stars series and the Legend series was really wonderful too, one of the most beautiful endings ever. It reminded me of the Harry Potter epilogue. I absolutely LOVED Hopeless and Losing Hope, you won't be disappointed!

    1. Yay! The fact that you liked a lot of these books on my list gives me even more hope that they'll turn out for me too. I absolutely can't wait to get reading Hopeless especially since I'm a CoHo fan already, and These Broken Stars has been raved on about by so many other bloggers as well. I love great endings in a series as well, so I'm sure that the rest of the Legend books are just as good!

  10. Great list! I have the first book in Mara Dyer borrowed out from the library but knowing me I'll return it before I get a chance to read it... Starbound made it on my list, and I'm also really keen to read the Every series, even if it isn't on my list. Unfortunately the TTT posts this week are just giving me MORE books I want to read!

    1. Lol I know how it feels to have to return library books when you just haven't had the chance to read them yet! Yes, there are always more books to add to the TBR when browsing these sorts of posts *gazes at precariously stacked pile of books waiting for me to read them* - but hey, at least we're spoilt for choice! :)

  11. OMG I need to read Mara Dyer too! And Legend. I feel so bad that I haven't!
AND YES YES YES THE VIOLET EDEN CHAPTERS OMG okay.
Here's some advice for The Violet Eden Chapters.
So the first book is very much world building, so if it doesn't get THAT mind trippy (AND IT ALREADY IS TBH) DON'T GIVE UP!
And same with the second book, Entice. It's still building it up and sorting out some relationships and stuff but don't give up on it if you think it's taking a while because it has stuff you NEED to know for later because mind trippy plot twist EXPLOSION stuff and then from the third book Emblaze everything goes BOOOM!!!!!
AND THEN YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PUT DOWN EMBLAZE OR ENDLESS OR EMPOWER BUT I'M WARNING YOU OMG HAVE TISSUES!!!!!
    and that is my advice.
also, after reading Endless and Empower, I was in a book hangover for a week each time.
So yeah, have time to have your brain exploded and your worlds flipped over.
Great to see that I am not the only one who hasn't read some of those series!
