As the year comes to a close, it becomes clear that there have been so many amazing reads I've picked up in 2014. To celebrate some of my favourite books, in this feature I'll be sharing my best picks from various genres. To fit in with this year's theme, each book will have a description of 14 words. Today I'll be sharing some novels from Australian authors that I loved:

Josie Browning’s adventures are both hilarious and fun to read about in this series.

Walking On Trampolines by Frances Whiting

This shows how friendships can last a lifetime, leaving an impact on our lives.

Hate Is Such A Strong Word by Sarah Ayoub

Cooper Bartholomew is Dead by Rebecca James

22341147

A gripping psychological thriller where one death holds more than what meets the eye.

Masquerade by Kylie Fornasier

Kylie Fornasier has captured the mystery, intrigue and opulence of Venice in the 1750's.

Razorhurst by Justine Larbalestier

This doesn't shy away from the mob warfare and criminal undercurrents of the time.

The Accident by Kate Hendrick

The Road to Gundagai by Jackie French

The shiny cover is only a glimpse at the amazing story the pages hold.

As Stars Fall by Christie Nieman

  4. It's been an incredible year for Aussie authors hasn't it, Jessica Shirvington makes my list too (have one going up next week as part of my bookish series). I haven't actually heard much about Hate is such a Strong Word. I love diversity and ballsy characters that learn to stand on their own two feet. I'll have to check it out. I can't wait to start The Intern soon, all you guys keep gushing about it and starting to feel really left out :D

Brilliant list poppet, and here's to our Aussies having an even BIGGER 2015! <3

    1. Can't wait to see your picks Kelly :) Hate Is Such A Strong Word definitely surpassed my expectations, and the author is so nice in person too! If this year is anything to go by, next year will be an amazing one for sure.

  5. I've only read two of these - I feel SO bad!! I absolutely loved both Razorhurst and Masquerade though. I have to agree with Kelly's comment - I need to get to The Intern since everyone seems to love it so much :)

    1. Glad to find more fans of historical fiction written by Australian authors - those two really got the atmosphere right. The Intern is a fantastic light contemporary read which in my opinion lives up to the hype!

  6. SO MANY GREAT CHOICES HERE EUGENIA! Especially Razorhurst, I absolutely adored that book. I love how you only used 14 words to describe them all, so smart!

    1. Thanks Joy! Razorhurst definitely ticked all the right boxes for a gritty YA historical fiction, and Justine Larbalestier did such a great job in recreating the 1930's setting.

  7. Dude, I'm horrible with Aus fiction. Like horrendous. I think I read like one author and an eighth of another. So all I can say is Ellie Marney! But fantastic recs! I must give Razorhurst a go though.

I really need to read The Intern, Hate is Such a Strong Word and The Accident!! :D Cooper Bartholomew is Dead and Masquerade were VERY enjoyable. I don't think I've read a whole lot of Aus YA fiction this year, but ELLIE MARNEY. <333333 Thanks for sharing some wonderful recs, Eugenia!
