Tuesday 14 April 2015

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by bloggers at The Broke and the BookishThis week I'm sharing with you some bookish quotes which I find meaningful with a good message:

1. Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut

"There is enough love in this world for everybody, if people will just look"

2. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

"Difference of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our minds are open"

3. Slammed by Colleen Hoover

"Does he treat you with respect at all times? That's the first question. The second question is, if he is the exact same person twenty years from now that he is today, would you still want to marry him? And finally, does he inspire to be a better person? You find someone you can answer yes to all three, then you've found a good man.”

4. The Color Purple by Alice Walker

"We realize that we are as ourselves unlimited and our experiences valid. It is for the rest of the world to recognize this, if they choose."

5. Hate is Such a Strong Word by Sarah Ayoub

"What is this situation if not an opportunity to grow, learn and prosper? Difference can make us stronger; we just have to be strong enough to accept it."

6. Emma by Jane Austen

“I always deserve the best treatment because I never put up with any other.”

7. The Road to Gundagai by Jackie French

"She wanted the sky for a roof now, at least part of the time, needed to see the horizon and watch the moon rise. Let the river twist around her life. Let the wind do the travelling, bringing her the scent of dust or snow or gum leaves, while the world turned in its circle from its still point here."

8. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

“I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will.”

9. Every Day by David Levithan

"If you stare at the center of the universe, there is a coldness there. A blankness. Ultimately, the universe doesn't care about us. Time doesn't care about us.
That's why we have to care about each other."

10. A Walk To Remember by Nicholas Sparks

“There are moments when I wish I could roll back the clock and take all the sadness away, but I have the feeling that if I did, the joy would be gone as well.”

What are some of your favourite inspirational books, or the quotes from them?

  1. I think David Levithan is SUCH a quotable writer! I've only read a couple of his books but I tend to find a lot of his narration to be quite inspiring. ^_^ Lovely list!

    1. He certainly is! His work seems to get really philosophical in places which makes for some deep quotes.

  2. Jane Eyre! Anything from that classic is pretty quotable. I really prefer the lyrical style of Bronte to Austen. Beautiful choices Eugenia, really poignant and relatable. I think my favourite quote of all time comes from Charlie and the Chocolate factory, 'I am the maker of music, the dreamer of dreams'. I'd love to have that tattooed on the inside of my wrist. Mainly to remind myself of that childhood that we seem to lose as we age.

Fabulous choices this week poppet, really enjoyed them <3
