Top Ten Tuesday: Authors I Need to Read More From

Tuesday 16 September 2014

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by bloggers at The Broke and the BookishThis week I'm sharing the top ten authors I've read a book from, but need to read more of their work.

1. Rainbow Rowell
What I've read:

16068905

I've heard great things about ALL of her other books, such as 'Eleanor and Park', 'Attachments' and 'Landline'. I gave Fangirl five stars so I'm hoping that the others are just as good!

2. Marie Rutkoski
What I've read:

20947360

This is another book I gave 5 stars to and so Marie Rutkoski has gone onto my 'auto-read' author list. Her book 'The Shadow Society' looks particularly interesting so I might give that one a go when I can.

3. Jessi Kirby
What I've read:

12578313

'Golden' was beautifully written, so I can't wait to read 'Moonglass' and 'In Honor' which both look like great contemporary reads as well!

4. Jessica Shirvington
What I've read:

19032994

Since 'Disruption' was pretty darn awesome, I think it's time to work my way backwards to the 'Embrace' series which I have the first two books of (they're watching me as I type this right now...)

5. Markus Zusak
What I've read:

19064

Since this is one of my favourite books of all time, it's fair to say that I definitely want to read more from Markus Zusak. I'm thinking 'I Am the Messenger' is next on my list.

6. Katherine Longshore
What I've read:

18799069

Historical fiction is one of my favourite genres, and as it so happens, that's what Katherine Longshore writes. I have a copy of 'Gilt' which I'm looking forward to getting into, but 'Manor of Secrets' looks great as well.

7. Stephen King - Carrie
What I've read:

10622

It was super creepy, better than the movie, and I loved it. Stephen King has written a lot of novels, so I guess I'm going to have to take my pick from his collection. If any of you guys have read some that you'd recommend then let me know :)

8. E. Lockhart
What I've read:

16143347

This is one of my top reads of the year, and with such a fascinating storyline and piercing writing style. Her other books 'The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks ' and 'The Boyfriend List' look good, plus I'll definitely be reading whatever she writes next.

9. Patrick Ness
What I've read:

21969786

Apparently his 'Chaos Walking' series is a hit, and 'A Monster Calls' looks like a pretty intense read so that's what I'm expecting.

10. Melissa Kantor
What I've read:

18114914

Her next book 'Better Than Perfect' is coming out next year, so I'll definitely be looking out for that!

  1. Patrick Ness and E. Lockhart are on my list too! I definitely need to read more from those authors. Also, Jessica Shirvington is an awesome writer! I really enjoyed Embrace and her standalone Between the Lives; it was so unique and was overall a great read. I'm yet to read Disruption, though I do have a copy of it. :D Great list! This post has reminded me, once more, that I STILL need to read a Rainbow Rowell novel! O.o

    1. I know that her Embrace series is really popular so I'm looking forward to seeing what the hype is about, and one of my best friends loved Between the Lives so I'm also hoping to get to that soon! Glad my list could help, if you like contemporary then I'd definitely recommend Rainbow Rowell :)

  2. Great list, a few like Patrick Ness are on my list too to read more of. I've only read More Than This too and can't wait to check out the Chaos Walking series. I really enjoyed Elenore and park, but I'm not a big fan of Rainbow Rowell, I really didn't like Fangirl and she's one of those authors I can help but think is severely overrated. The Winner's Curse! Gosh, that's been my book of 2014 so far, absolutely adored it. Definitely have to check out more of her work. Thanks for sharing <3

    1. Thanks Kelly :) And yes, The Winner's Curse was definitely amazing (both inside and out) so I think at this point I'll try anything by Marie Rutkoski!

  3. Patrick Ness is on my list!! OOh, yes, you should definitely read Eleanor and Park. I absolutely LOVED IT. I Am the Messenger is fantastic as well - very meta. Markus Zusak is seriously a brilliant writer. Oh, and I had no idea Jessi Kirbi had written other books!!! I can't wait to read Golden :D

  4. Eugenia! Please read Attachments by Rainbow Rowell! It was the first book of hers that I ever read, and I feel absolutely and completely in love with it, and maybe like it even better than Fangirl. It's such a sweet story and it is written so well and just YES. READ, READ, READ. XD

I want to read more from Marie Rutkoski, as well! I was quite enamoured with The Winner's Curse, so I think I would enjoy her other novels, as well. Her writing style is lovely.

I was a bit disappointed in Embrace by Jessica Shirvington, but Between the Lives was absolutely fantastic :D

The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks looks pretty awesome, and is definitely on the TBR.

Other than Markus Zusak, I haven't read any of the other authors on this list. Maybe I should get on that ;P

  5. I don't know if I've mentioned it or not, but your design is so pretty - I love it! :)

I really hope you love Eleanor & Park! I was disappointed by Landline and Fangirl, but thought that Eleanor & Park was amazing! I've yet to read Attachments though.

I've only read one Marie Rutkoski book too, and I have The Shadow Society on my TBR too.

Reading more Zusak is a must for me as well. He also made my list this week.

I really need to get my butt into gear and read Jessi Kirby, Jessica Shirvington, Katherine Longshore, Stephen King and Melissa Kantor.

Thanks for sharing a wonderful post, Eugenia! :)

    1. Eleanor and Park seems to be the most popular Rainbow Rowell book, so after this I'm definitely going to read it soon! Markus Zusak seems to be quite the popular pick this week as well for this TTT feature I've noticed. Thanks so much for stopping by Ebony, and it's nice to hear that you like the design :)

  9. Patrick Ness is a seriously wonderful writer. I'd definitely suggest giving A Monster Calls a go next- it's incredibly beautiful. Jessica Shirvington is amazing too- I haven't read Disruption yet, but the Violet Eden Chapters/Embrace series is really, really good. I hope you get to read some more of these authors soon!

  10. You know, I haven't read a single book on this list.
I haven't even read a single author on this list.
But I do want to read Disruption, We Were Liars and The Book Thief. And I've been debating for a while now whether I should read Fangirl. I'm tempted...but I'm not really a contemporary person...

    1. Well I guess now you've got a lot of different books to possibly check out :p
Disruption, We Were Liars and The Book Thief were all AMAZING reads for me, so I would definitely recommend them! If you're not usually a contemporary person, Fangirl might still appeal to you, but I've heard that Rainbow Rowell's other books are great too.
