From Sara Shepard, author of the #1 New York Times bestselling Pretty Little Liars series, comes the shocking sequel to The Perfectionists—with an ending you'll have to read to believe!

Mackenzie, Ava, Caitlin, Julie, and Parker have done some not-so-perfect things. Even though they all talked about killing rich bully Nolan Hotchkiss, they didn't actually go through with it. It's just a coincidence that Nolan died in exactly the way they planned . . . right? Except Nolan wasn't the only one they fantasized about killing. When someone else they named dies, the girls wonder if they're being framed. Or are they about to become the killer's next targets?
Thank you to Five Mile Press  for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

At first glance, the world of 'The Perfectionists' doesn't seem to stray too far from it's ever-popular predecessor in the Pretty Little Liars trilogy that has left people reeling over the mystery and intrigue which goes down. In The Good Girls, a group of flawed friends are certainly no angels, though whether they are able to pull off a murder is the question.

It's a book that revels in the 'whodunnit' traditional mystery style, and since I hadn't read anything by Sara Shepard before - I was interested to see how the plot unfolded. Each of the five narrators have their own flaws and challenges to overcome in a world where everyone else around them seems pristine. However, those little secrets everyone has but doesn't want anybody else to know about are always lurking in the shadows, causing drama, scandal and a plot to develop which is always thrilling. Though yes, at times there was some predictability and elements which felt a tad unrealistic, getting to know the girls and their friendship dynamics, as well as trying to guess what the twist was made for an enjoyable read. AND WHAT A TWIST IT WAS. I just love it when I can't see what's coming.

FINAL THOUGHTS

This is a mystery novel that starts out a bit slow, but finishes with a bang! For PLL fans out there, you're bound to love the style of this novel and become invested in just how much trouble five teenage girls can get caught up in. It's definitely a thrilling ride!

  1. I like this cover a lot more than the US edition! I hear the plot twist in this one is INSANE. I'm waiting for my library to eventually get the audiobook copy, gotta finish a series in the same format! :)

    1. Me too Amber, and yep the plot twist here is *pretty* big and 'OMG' worthy. I think this would be a great series in audio, and know how you feel about keeping the formats the same - hope you enjoy it :)

  2. I have heard a lot about this authors books but I have never read one of them for myself. I like that although this was a rich society kind of girl group that the mystery still unravelled nicely and the plot twist had you shocked!

    1. They do have that 'rich girls get into trouble' vibe, but it's carried off well when there's such a big twist in the story!
