The Real Neat Blog Award

Firstly, thanks so much to Brett for tagging me in this! It seems like a fun way to spread more positivity in the blogging world and answer some fun questions in the process.

These are the rules:

Answer the five questions of the person who nominated you, then nominate four or five other blogs and ask them five new questions.
And here are my answers to Brett's questions:

1. What was the last book you finished?

Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut - I read this for school, and though it is one of the stranger novels I've come across, I did really enjoy it!

2. What is your favourite ‘classic’ book?

Gah this is a tough one - but I'll go with Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. It's a classic that's really stuck with me since I've read it.

3. Where (and when) do you like to read?

Usually before I go to sleep since them I'm relaxed, or on lazy weekend afternoons.

4. What book/s on your bookshelf do you treasure the most?

I feel like saying 'all of them!', though if I had to choose, my signed copies of Jackie French's novels and books from other authors which I've met at events and had signed are special. Others include my favourites like The Rosie Black Chronicles by Lara Morgan, and even my well-worn copy of The BFG by Roald Dahl.

5. If you could talk with any author (alive or dead), who would it be, and why?

Another tough question! I think it would be pretty interesting to talk to F. Scott Fitzgerald - I'd love to know from a writer's perspective what it was really like to live in the 1920's.
My questions:

1. What is your favourite book from your childhood?
2. Who is your favourite OTP?
3. What is the best book you've read this year?
4. Favourite bookish quote?
5. What book do you think would make a great movie?

  3. Love that reading gif! I also read a lot before bed, although this means several nights I just stay up and read like crazy. And oh my, your questions are so sadistic. They're all asking for favourites? HOW CAN YOU DECIDE THAT? (But of course sadistic questions are the best ones.)

    1. Thanks Alyssa :) I know, I can see now it *is* hard to pick just one...so *whispers*, I think it would be okay if people go with a top three or something.

  4. Jane Eyre is my favorite classic too! Great questions. But I'm also with Alyssa....how do expect them to CHOOSE? ;)

    1. Glad to find another big Jane Eyre fan! It can be hard to choose indeed, I'll be interested to see how the people I've tagged go with their picks :)

    1. That's great to hear Cynthia, it really is a wonderful story - and the film adaptations are pretty good too I've found.

  6. Am I completely terrible for never having read Jane Eyre? I feel it. *hides in shame* I haven't read Wuthering Heights, either. I should do a classics month or something and read all the ones that I really should!

I love reading before I go to sleep, too. And it makes it easier for me to drift off. When I don't read before bed, I am so wired, and it takes me AGES to fall asleep T.T

My favourite books on my shelf are my LGBTQIA+ ones. I feel so happy looking at the whole row of them.

Thank you for tagging me, dear! I can't wait to answer your questions :D

    1. Definitely not - it's never to late for Jane Eyre! I haven't read Wuthering Heights but it is sitting on my shelf...I think I just need to be in the mood to read it. Looking forward to seeing your take on my questions Chiara :)

  7. I find that I have the most reading time before I go to bed, too! But then by that time I'm already incredibly stressed out by school and homework, so I may or may not pass out while reading and drop the book on my face. :O

    1. Yes! Haha I know what you mean...I *have* actually dropped a book on my face before (luckily it wasn't a hardcover).

  8. Reading before bed is how I do it, too! I agree that it is just so relaxing and I tend to read longer, too, because there are less distractions (and did I mention that it's just so damn relaxing?)

Also a book that I think would make a great movie is Red Rising by Pierce Brown. The plot itself is begging to have a cinematic release. Thankfully, it will be happening sooner than we think! ;D

    1. The relaxation of it really is what makes it special, and something I can focus on without really thinking about anything else. Red Rising looks really good - though I haven't read it *yet*, I have heard some great things about it so hope to check it out soon. It's great to hear it may be a movie too! Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts Faye :)

  9. Ooh I can't wait to do this, thanks for the tag <3

Confession, I haven't read Jane Eyre. :0 I love reading at the beach, but I usually read on my bed or on the couch on the living room or on the porch out back. I think I treasure my copy of City of Bones by Cassandra Clare most because it's the book that made me love reading again! I would resurrect Jane Austen and gush about her books and fictionally hot male specimen she created. :)

    1. You're welcome Rachel :)
Jane Eyre is definitely worth a read - it's not a really long classic, and it has a hit of mystery too which is always good. Reading at the beach is lovely, especially with the sound of waves in the background - I wish it was hotter over here so I could do that now. Confession: I haven't read City of Bones, but I hope to one day!
